About us
We wish the Brigalow State School to be an open, friendly community of learners, where students develop a love of learning, engage positively with their peers and teachers. A child-centred approach is the guiding principle for the development of curriculum units, for as a staff we believe it is important to value and support children as individuals, as well as members of a group, knowing that each child has unique talents to be developed and a unique set of needs to be met. Students are expected be respectful, courteous and considerate at all times enabling themselves and others to successfully engage in their learning.
It is an expectation of the school community that all students will daily wear school uniform and the wearing of school uniform helps students identify with the school, feel part of a group and maintain a dignified standard for all throughout the full range of school activities.
We wish your child/children a happy and positive set of learning experiences at the Brigalow State School. When students, teachers and parents work together and communicate freely for the educational benefit of the students then opportunity for student learning is greatly enhanced thus increasing the chance for the student to achieve to their full potential.
Our community
The Brigalow school community consists predominantly of rural families. The farming sector is a closely-knit rural community, with many of the families being related. The majority of the farms are operated by family members. The commencement of the Kogan Creek Coal Mine and Power Station and the growth of the building industry and infrastructure has provided additional employment opportunities for the community.
