Whats's been happening at Brigalow School in first term 2009? In February we had a special assembly for the Year 7 students who were inducted as Prefects. Police Sargent Mr Barry Winters, who was welcomed as our Adpot-a-Cop, helped present the prefect badges.
After the devastating bushfires in Victoria, the Project Club decided to help out by selling icy poles at lunch time. To date they have raised almost $80 dollars for this appeal. At the end of February, the school had a Clean Up Day. While the school grounds were fairly clean, along the road we picked up bags of rubbish from thoughtless cars!
In March, Year 6 and 7 students went on camp to Tallebudgera Beach School. The children had a fantastic time swimming, boating, tandem bike riding, circus skills, dancing and so much more. While the older students were away the other children had a sleep over at the school. After a trip to the Chinchilla Pool they played games, ate pizza and watched movies. The next day was more fun and games including making a scarecrow for the new vegetable garden. The first week in April saw the Golden Circle fun run. The younger students had an obstacle course to complete and the older students had to run a course of up to 2km. On the last day of term, all the students participated in the Easter Bonnet parade. There were some wonderful, colourful creations and maybe even some chocolate! The students also performed jokes, plays, songs and dances for the parent's entertainment.
